SPRINGVILLE -- Participating in the festivities of the Black Hawk Indian war veterans' and Utah Pioneers' encampment at Spanish Fork, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Weight of Springville, observed their golden wedding anniversary. "We didn't call it 'camping' in those days, but we had as much to start out with as is in that tent," said Mr. Weight, referring to the camp outfit with which the couple enjoyed the week at Spanish Fork. Sons and a daughter of the couple plan a more formal observance of the wedding anniversary later. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Weight ... "camped out" their golden wedding. Mr. Weight was born in Springville May 7, 1866, a son of Frederick and Elizabeth Bocock Weight. His parents were among the earliest pioneers. He has taken part in civic and L. D. S. church affairs and has engaged in farming and cattle raising since early manhood. He was at one time city deputy marshal. Mrs. Weight was born in Springville November 13, 1867, a daughter of Hubbard and Susan Childs Noakes, who were also early pioneers. She has been active in L. D. S. church work, serving as a Relief society teacher for many years. The couple have a daughter and five sons, Nell, William, Willis, Ernest and Nolan Weight, Springville; Arch Weight, Salt Lake City, and 21 grandchildren.
SPRINGVILLE--In celebration of the fifty-first wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred W. Weight, their sons and daughters entertained Saturday at the family residence. Nearly 300 relatives and friends called. Born in Springville, May 7, 1866, of pioneer parents, Mr. Weight always has made his home here. He was among the first to transform the canyon territory east of here into farm land and for a number of years has been interested in farming and stock raising in that vicinity. He takes an active part in L. D. S. church work, being a member of the high priests' quorum. Mrs. Eunice Weight, also of pioneer parentage, was born here November 13, 1867. She has been a teacher in Relief society for a number of years. The couple was married on August 10, 1887. Due to their attendance at the state Black Hawk encampment on their wedding date, the anniversary celebration was postponed one month.
